About Us

Why, helloo there. Glad that you’re here to join us for Project henhoachi.

After a fully loaded academic year, we've have finally decided to create our own blog and have our own presence in the blogosphere as henhaochi. Who are we ? We're Callie and Angela – two carefree twenty year olds who love to eat, play, and shop.

Before we start talking about awesome food, entertainment, and S&S (save & spends); let us introduce you to henhaochi and of course, ourselves. Being food enthusiasts since as long as we can remember, the two of us spend most of our time eating, if not on our crackberry and iPhone. With a shared passion for food, we have ventured together through the streets of Toronto scavenging for the best foods ranging from the juiciest striploins in town to creamy penang curries to savoury dessert crepes and much more...! Living in the multicultural city of Toronto, we have made it our mission to bring excitement to our taste buds and yours by sharing our foodventures in Toronto (and abroad) right here on henhaochi.

So why henhaochi? In Chinese, hen hao chi means “yummy! / “delicious” / and basically “amazing” in food world. Because we’ll be sharing with you the most yummy foods, the most delicious drinks, and the most amazingggg restaurants here, we thought henhaochi would be a good name to represent what we would be talking about. Of course, being the twenty year olds that we are, we’ll also give you a glimpse of all the fun and shopping we do and how you can make the best of your twenty-somethings.

With that being said, here’s a brief introduction of each of us:

Callie – My favourite part of any meal is dessert. I have a huge sweet tooth, especially for chocolate and many other things that are stacked with sugar. My favourite dessert is arguably a nice and simple French crème brulee, caramelized and glazed to perfection, with raspberries and blueberries topping it off. But of course, before every good dessert, a delicious main course will  come first. One of my favourite dishes? Italian butternut squash risotto. Although time consuming to make, it is one of the best comfort foods because of its rich and creamy flavours. When it comes to caffeine, I like to stay away from fountain pop, and stick to tea (my favourite being earl grey!) I’m not much of a coffee person, but Angela can tell you all about espressos and lattes.

Angela - If there is one thing in this world I cannot live without eating, it would have to be pasta. The intricacies of making the perfect plate of pasta comes from finding correct combination of pasta, sauce and garnish. My favorite combination is a Fettucine with carb, guanciale and cream topped with a poached egg from Frabbrica. However, my love of pasta is just a part of my love for the Italian cuisine and all of its component from the salumi to the antipasti and of course pizza. But as Callie hinted before coffee is the drink of choice any day.  I’ve realized that although I’ve mastered Starbucksian from working there as a barista, real espresso and cappuccinos are still a world of their own that I am determined to master.

As for the rest, you’ll find out as you read more and see what our personalities have to say about us! We hope that you’ll stay with us and join us as our adventure begins on henhaochi!
